Process of Creating a LISTSERV on Gmail

Google mail service has in-built support of LISTSERVs, which are actually mailing lists. For creating email addresses group, you can use contact grouping in Gmail’s contacts editor. Follow the steps for creating LISTSERV:

  1. Access the Gmail web page by using the ‘Mail.Google.com’ address and then click on the ‘Contacts’ available on the left side of the Gmail page.
  2. On the left side of contacts list, click on ‘New Group’ and enter the name for your mailing list and then press ‘Enter’.
  3. At the left side of Contacts List, click on the name of your mailing list.
  4. At the top of Contacts pane, tap on the ‘Add to (Group Name)’ button and then enter a comma-separated list of email IDs which you want to add on your mailing list and then press ‘Enter’.
  5. On the left side of the page, click on ‘Mail’ and then select ‘Compose Mail’.
  6. Enter the name of your mailing list in the ‘To’ box and then tap ‘[Group Name] (Group)’ in the drop down box. Gmail will automatically add every email address in the group as recipient.
  7. Now compose your email, enter subject and body and then tap on ‘Send’ for forwarding the mail to every email address on your mailing list.
